Polar is a circular chess game built by Kerygma Code. This page explains, in plain terms, what the app collects, why, and the choices you have — covering online multiplayer, ads, the optional Remove Ads purchase, and basic gameplay logging.
Polar is built to need as little about you as possible. Here is everything the app touches, organized by the feature that needs it.
When you tap "Play online," the app signs your device in anonymously through Firebase Authentication. This assigns a random ID to your device — it is not tied to your name, email address, or any account, and Polar never asks you to create one.
Stored
Your anonymous device ID, plus the moves and room codes needed to keep a live match in sync between two devices. This is stored only as long as it's needed to run your game — not linked to you personally in any way.
The free version of Polar shows an ad (via Google AdMob) after each finished game. To select and measure these ads, Google's AdMob SDK may collect device and advertising identifiers on its own behalf. Polar does not collect or see this data itself — it flows directly to Google under Google's own privacy policy, linked below.
The optional $1.99 "Remove Ads" purchase is handled entirely by Google Play Billing. Polar never receives, sees, or stores your payment details — card numbers, billing address, and so on stay with Google. The app only keeps a small flag on your own device recording that you've purchased Remove Ads, so it knows not to show ads anymore.
To help with balancing and testing, Polar sends a small, anonymous record of each finished game — things like how it ended, how many moves it took, how long it lasted, and whether you played an AI or another person. This never includes your name, moves you made, or any way to identify you personally.
We do not use anything Polar collects for advertising profiles of our own, and we do not sell any information to anyone.
Polar is built on a small number of well-known services, all operated by Google:
Firebase (Authentication & Firestore)
Anonymous sign-in and match syncing for online multiplayer.
Google AdMob
Serves the interstitial ad shown between games on the free tier.
Google Play Billing
Processes the one-time Remove Ads purchase.
Google Apps Script
Receives the anonymous, per-game log described above.
Each is covered by Google's Privacy Policy, and AdMob specifically by Google's ads policy.
Polar does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us using the details below and we'll remove it.
Match data and anonymous IDs are kept only as long as needed to run the features above. Because none of it is tied to your name or any account, there's no personal profile of you for us to retain in the first place.
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Polar after a change means you accept the updated policy.
